Description:
In 1973 a group of Cuero citizens decided to add more fun and festivities to the already hoppin' Cuero Turkey Trot. Today, you can enjoy a full South Texas spectra of activities all built around the turkey. There are food recipes, a carnival, gala parades, mall areas, live entertainment and the Great Gobbler Gallop. This annual turkey race is held between the cities of Worthington, Minnesota and Cuero. It's a two-heat race - one heat in each town each year - the best time of the two races determines the winner. The prize is a four foot trophy, The Traveling Turkey Trophy of Tumultuous Triumph and the title of the World's Fastest Turkey. This event is widely popular and brings thousands of people into Cuero for the annual three-day event.
At noon on Saturday, the mall area opens and features food booths, arts and crafts, horseshoe pitching, a Chili Cook-off, softball tournament, varied live entertainment, and local dance and acrobatics presentations. Featured activities that include the Turk Olympics, the Kiddy Parade and the children's tractor pull. The Barbecue Cook-off will conclude with award presentations.
