Native American Day: Education About Preservation of Sites and Culture
Jacksonville,
AL
Calhoun County
USA
Held on the
Second
Saturday
of
March
for
1
day(s)
Description:
We are holding our first event for this group on March 13th to educate the public on preservation and the importance of Native American prehistoric culture in Alabama. The city of Jacksonville is excited that we are having this event on the square, and the event is going to be fun for families and children. This is a free event.
We want to embrace the public to make them understand the reasons we need to stop the destruction that we see today, and education is just the key to end that destruction in the future. All interested parties (vendors, drummers, dancers, culture keepers, etc...) may send an e-mail to the administrators of the Movement to Preserve Native American Sacred Sites and Culture in Alabama Web site.
We are really excited about this great opportunity, and we know that we can all make a difference for the future. This event is free to the public.

The Italian American Marching Club is one of the largest ethnic organizations in the Southeastern United States. It was founded in 1970 and has climbed to heights of 1500 members in recent years. Our objective is to keep our Italian heritage prevalent in New Orleans, the destination of so many of our forefathers in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Our organization is unique in that we have incorporated the focal point of New Orleans' festive culture, the parade, into our love of our Italian heritage. We do this in celebration of St. Joseph's Day each year.

Louisiana Crawfish Festival
Chalmette,
LA
St. Bernard
USA
Held on the
Last
Weekend
of
March
for
4
day(s)
Description:
2004 marks the 29th anniversary of the Louisiana Crawfish Festival. As in past years, the festival will be held on the grounds of the St. Bernard Cultural Center (8245 W. Judge Perez Dr.) in Chalmette, Louisiana.
The festival draws people from the entire metro area as well as from other states and even other countries! Food and fun for all ages are available. The festival will offer over sixty amusement rides for children of all ages and 40 booths of games and attractions of all kinds will be there for your pleasure. The arts and crafts area that was introduced in 2003 will be back and it will be bigger and better than ever. The rock-climbing wall will return to challenge the young and the old. And the Louisiana Crawfish Festival will have plenty of what it is most famous for…CRAWFISH! The festival will feature over 25 different crawfish dishes. And for those who don’t like crawfish (Do those people really exist?) the festival will have a wonderful selection of non-crawfish dishes.
Also, the 2004 version of the festival is boasting one of the greatest entertainment lineups in the festival’s history. In addition to our great lineup of bands (see below) the mascots and dance teams of many local professional sports teams will be making appearances this year along with a scheduled appearance by the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer. Miss Louisiana Crawfish Festival will be joined in 2004 by Miss Teen Louisiana Crawfish Festival, Ms. Louisiana Crawfish Festival, Baby Miss Louisiana Crawfish Festival and Master Louisiana Crawfish Festival. The Louisiana Crawfish Festival 5K Road Race returns for its second year and of course we cannot forget the World-Famous Crawfish Races!
The Louisiana Crawfish Festival is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. The Knights are a charitable organization that gives back to the community by helping such groups as Children's Hospital of New Orleans, public and parochial schools in St. Bernard, youth programs such as the Boy Scouts, summer camps for the local youths, the St. Bernard Battered Women’s Shelter and many more. Most of the proceeds will go back into the local community.
Come and bring the whole family to the Louisiana Crawfish Festival. Take I-10 to I-510 South (Chalmette exit). Continue south on Highway 47 (Paris Road) to Highway 39 West (Judge Perez Dr.). Turn left and go two miles to the St. Bernard Civic Center and the festival.
