SCHEDULE OF DOWNTOWN EVENTS

    Festivals, special events and performances are held frequently in downtown, sponsored by the Downtown Morehead City Revitalization Association and other area organizations. For more information, call (252) 808-0440.

  1. February - Art From the Heart, Starts on Valentines Day - Local and regional artists display their works in a two-week gallery sponsored by the Arts Council of Carteret County. First week of March, Carteret County Schools Art Exhibit - One week display of local student art.
  2. Second Saturday of March, St. Patrick's Day Pet Parade - Come show off your special pet for this unique parade and contest. Many categories including Best Dressed, Best Look-A-Like Pet/Pal and Best Tricks. All pets welcome. Sponsored by the Carteret Academy. Entry fee. (252) 808-2398. 10 am.
  3. Easter Weekend -  Jesus By The Sea, Christian Biker Rally - Motorcycle rally with a Christian theme. Bike show, bike washing, entertainment, vendors, food. Sponsored by His Laboring Few. (252) 223-0581. 9 am - 9 pm.
  4. Second Saturday in May, March of Dimes Walk America - Team registration starts at 8:30 am and the Walk begins at 9:30 am at Jaycee Park on the Downtown Waterfront. (252) 726-4727.
  5. Third Weekend in May, NC Blackbeard Fest, History & Mystery of the Sea - Annual Event to bring awareness to the discovery of Blackbeard's flagship Queen Anne's Revenge just a mile away. The festival features a treasure hunt, pirate costume contests, authentic pirate-life demonstrations, a pirate attack and much more. Events occur in Morehead City and Beaufort. (252) 808-0440
  6. Every Month - First Friday! - Downtown merchants remain open until 8:30 pm providing special offers and activities. Different entertainment and events occur each month from 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm.
  7. Second Weekend in June, Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament - This is one of the oldest and largest sport fishing tournaments in the United States. Second of the four World Billfish Series: Tahiti, Morehead City, US Virgin Islands and Cabo San Lucas. More than 200 boats participate.   8. July 4, Independence Day Celebration - Features a street dance beginning at 7:00 pm and fireworks on the downtown waterfront at 9:00 pm and other events during the day. (252) 808-0440.
  9. First Saturday in September, Carteret Antique Car Show - Come see the many antique automobiles and other vehicles in Carteret County and from around the area. (252) 727-0360
  10. Second Saturday in September, Bald Headed Men Convention & Downtown-Wide Antiques & Yard Sales - Downtown businesses and residents hold annual yard sales in front of their businesses and homes from 4th Street to 14th Street. 7 am - noon.
  11. First Weekend in October, North Carolina Seafood Festival - More than 100,000 people attend this annual event that celebrates the local commodity of seafood. Vendors sell seafood prepared in a variety of ways, top-flight entertainers, crafts, educational exhibits, programs, and contests spread out from 9th Street to the NC State Port.   12. Third Saturday in October - Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil - This event remembers those women and men who have died from domestic violence. City Park Gazebo. 7 pm.
  13. Last Saturday in October - Downtown Fall Celebration - Downtown Trick-or-Treat, in-character story-telling, costume contest and parade and the first annual Chowder Contest. 11 am - 5 pm.
  14. Second Saturday in November - Veterans Day Parade - One of the largest veteran's parades in the state. 11 am, Candlelight Art Tour - Tour of the downtown and nearby art galleries. Morehead City and Beaufort. 7pm - 9 pm.
  15. First Saturday in December - Crystal Coast Christmas Flotilla - Decorated boats begin the flotilla at Jaycee Park at 5:00 pm and travel to Beaufort. Live music and holiday refreshments begin at 4 pm.
  16. Second Saturday in December - Morehead City Christmas Parade - One of the largest parades in Eastern North Carolina. 11 am.
